SDSU Downtown Gallery
Join San Diego EMP and the SDSU Downtown Gallery for an exclusive tour of their newest exhibit, Word Balloons: Comics at San Diego State University, on Thursday, July 23rd, from 5:30-6:15 p.m.
This after-hours tour will be led by Chantel Paul, Program Coordinator for the SDSU Downtown Gallery, and will be followed immediately by happy hour at the nearby Stone Brewing tasting room on Kettner Boulevard.
RSVP is required for the tour as space is limited. Registration is free with a suggested donation of $5 to San Diego EMP.
About the exhibit:
Word Balloons: Comics at San Diego State University shares the work of SDSU faculty, alumni, and students. Become immersed in the worldwide art form of comic culture as a vibrant part of the San Diego community. Internationally renowned artist and SDSU grad, Hugo Crosthwaite, will be creating a site-specific mural for the exhibit.
SDSU Downtown Gallery:
The SDSU Downtown Gallery is a program of the School of Art + Design, which in turn, is a unit of the College of Professional Studies and Fine Arts of San Diego State University. The Downtown Gallery is one of four galleries affiliated with the School of Art + Design.
For more than thirty years, the University Art Gallery, which is located on the SDSU campus, has received critical acclaim for its outstanding exhibition programming and curatorial vision. The SDSU Downtown Gallery continues this focus on programmatic excellence while also providing a vital link between the School of Art and the San Diego community.
