July 24 | 5:30 β 7:30 PM | San Diego Museum of Man
Got a secret you’ve never told anyone? If so, you’re not alone!
Join us at the San Diego Museum of Man for a behind-the-scenes look at their latest exhibit, PostSecret.
Erika Katayama, Director of Exhibits at SDMoM, will guide our EMP guests through the gallery, sharing what it was like to take a topic so universal yet so intimate and fabricate an experience for museum visitors to explore what it means to keep and share secrets. At the end, there will be an opportunity for you to create your own secret postcard and maybe even become part of the exhibit!
The PostSecret project is an ongoing community art project started by Frank Warren. In 2004 he hit the streets of DC, asking people to send him their deepest secrets anonymously on hand-decorated postcards. The secrets came flying in since then, and they are hilarious, heavy, heartwarming, heartbreaking… the whole range of human emotions on display. After several published books, a play, and an incredibly successful blog (check out postsecret.com), the project has made its way to San Diego.
Suggested donation: Up to $10
The behind-the-scenes tour of PostSecret will start promptly at 5:30 pm. Please join us for an optional outing at Panama 66 after the tour at the San Diego Museum of Man.
See you there!
