May 17 | 5:30 – 7:30 PM | Negociat Winery
Join San Diego Emerging Museum Professionals and Rising Arts Leaders at Negociant Winery for a conversation on advocacy and delicious snacks on Wednesday, May 17th at 5:30pm.
Take part in a conversation about advocacy facilitated by Emerging Museum Professional Dia Bassett and guest facilitator, Jason Porter, Education Director at the San Diego Museum of Man. We will revisit our theme of advocacy and look at themes of diversity, accessibility, inclusion, justice, equity…What do these terms mean and what do they look like in practice? We will discuss how museums and cultural institutions are defining their roles in relationship to these issues.
Questions will include:
- How do I advocate for myself and others?
- How do we advocate for diversity, accessibility, inclusion, justice, and equity within our museums and cultural institutions?
We’ve collected some articles written by those established in the arts as well as by some emerging professionals to scratch the surface of these advocacy challenges. Check them out if you can. If not, come anyways and join the conversation!
